LUCKY MUTTS 101
Lucky Mutts is a 501(c)(3) non profit volunteer corporation dedicated to educating the public on responsible pet ownership to help prevent the needless killing of dogs at shelters. We are also a foster network that adopts mutts to lucky people.

FOSTERS NEEDED!!

We are always looking for fosters. We can only rescue as many dogs that we have fosters homes, since we do not have a kennel. Please volunteer to foster. It is a rewarding experience and a joy to watch the rescues blossom into wonderful pets and bond with their forever family when they are ready! Help transition a street dog to a house dog!

THE SKY’S THE LIMIT
Bree is doing so well! She is adorable, sweet and very smart! She is an active, wonderful dog! Although she is still very puppyish, she is easy to train and eager to learn and work for you. She has blossomed in foster care where she has learned basic commands. What a gem! She would make a great active companion, either a running/hiking partner or potential agility or tracking dog! She is a pointer mix and is 40lbs. She was born February 2009. While she loves activity, she also enjoys curling up next to you with a chew bone or toy. She plays well with other dogs and kids, although would probably be best suited to a home with older children due to her high energy level.

OUR NEXT MEET & GREET WILL BE SUNDAY, JUNE 27TH AT LOFTY DOG ON WEST SECOND STREET FROM NOON UNTIL 2PM. COME MEET BREE!

Pointer Mix, 1.5 years old

DONATIONS
All of our current dogs are healthy and ready for a loving family! We see a lot of dogs that have neglected injuries. Once neglected, it is more expensive to correct and recovery is more difficult. We hope people are aware of Animal Trustees of Austin who will perform surgeries at reduced cost to help you help your animals live a healthy, long life. Please contact them for a consultation ($10) to see if they can help you. They do tumor removals, fracture repair, ACL repair, you name it! If you donate to a specific dog and they have been completely funded, we will use your donation for another dogs’ needs. We are a registered non-profit 501(c)(3).  We have no office, kennel, or paid personnel, our overhead is small, so all the money goes to the dogs!  Please click on the “read more” link for specifics on how to donate and ideas for non-monetary donations.  Thank you so much for thinking of animal rescue!
SURRENDERING A DOG
Lucky Mutts Rescue does not have foster homes to take in surrendered dogs directly.  However, we can help you in several ways:
1.  Provide resources to assist you in keeping your dog.  If you think you have to give up your dog because:  ”baby on the way”, “my dogs don’t get along”, “I don’t have time to exercise”, “my dog chews, barks, escapes the yard….” You don’t!  We can help guide you to the right resources to correct these issues!  It is simpler than you think.  We understand how some issues seem overwhelming and we can help break it down.

2.  If you found a dog or truly can not keep your dog, we can help you place the dog using our resources.  You will need to continue fostering the dog or find a foster.  We will also help you with resources to help make that dog more adoptable, if needed.  READ MORE

3.  If you feel overwhelmed with medical costs, we can help you find the right contact at Animal Trustees of Austin, a local non-profit.  They perform low cost heartworm treatment, spays and neuters, various surgical procedures, vaccinations, and microchipping.   They are available for consults for broken bones, torn ligaments, dental work, and anything else that can go wrong with your dog (or cat!)!
