| Sweet As Butter and Simply Irresistible | | Butter is a very sweet and affectionate dog who was discovered tied up to a swingset in a neighbor's yard along with her puppies. The good samaritans who took her in couldn't keep her or her pups, but they were the best thing that happened to them. The puppies have found great homes, and now it's Butter's turn. Butter loves to just hang out with people, allowing them to love on her. She loves car rides and playing with toys. Butter needs a home that is active as she loves to run and loves the outdoors. Butter is crate trained, and appreciates a good kong stuffed with yummy treats to keep her occupied. Butter needs someone willing to enforce boundaries and she needs to live in a home without other pets so she can get all the attention she deserves :o)

| As Sweet as Her Name | | Cupcake was found wandering in a parking lot and was picked up by a very sweet woman who found a friend of hers to foster her. After being fostered for a few weeks, Cupcake’s owner found her and took her home, only to bring her back to her foster a few weeks later since she was getting out of an abusive relationship and feared for Cupcake’s safety – she also couldn’t afford to take care of her any longer.
Cupcake sits for treats and sits and waits for her food; she kennels and waits for "release" when we open the door to let her out. We've done a little loose leash walking and she thinks getting treats for walking at her foster’s side is an AWESOME game! Cupcake has mastered the art of snuggling. She LOVEs to play, LOVES people, LOVES burrowing under the covers. She also LOVES hiking and swimming!!! Cupcake wants to engage other dogs in play and we've watched LOTS of sharing of toys between her and another dog. Since Cupcake is still a puppy, she tends to want to play a bit rough since she has not learned how to play appropriately yet. She responds very well to corrections of other dogs, respectfully leaving the dog alone when instructed to. The key to ensure that her puppy learning will continue to be productive and positive is for her to be around dogs that are balanced and can correct her at the appropriate time in the appropriate manner.
Cupcake was the life of the party when about 20 people were visiting, loving all the attention she got. She is EXTREMELY responsive to “correction sounds” when she is behaving in a way that is perceived as undesirable and we use positive training techniques ONLY. Cupcake sits patiently at social settings (i.e., coffee shops, sitting outside, etc.). She loves to go for car rides, staying in her seat and behaving perfectly. Cupcake loves to play with toys (usually destroying them, which is typical puppy). She loves raw bones, carrots, apples, bananas, etc.
Cupcake will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed within the next couple of weeks. As with all of our dogs, Cupcake will be required to attend basic obedience class at an approved facility. This is more to train the family how to work with Cupcake so she can be a positive role model and balanced dog also.

| Will you play football with me? | | Looking for a fun-loving goofball for your family? Princess was found
trotting down a 65 mph road out near Manor. She wasn't too sure about the
crazy people trying to get her in a car, but when one of them started a game
of tag, she couldn't resist the urge to play! She's been playing in our
house for a month now, and wants nothing more than a family she can call her
own. This girl loves every person she meets. Sadly, we've since learned that
several AmStaffs showed up in the same area that week. Sometimes even the
sweethearts get abandoned by thoughtless people.
Princess' favorite activities include going for walks, sleeping on her dog
bed while we watch TV, making pig noises, snuggling, and tossing around her
favorite stuffed football. She's spayed, heartworm negative, house- and
crate-trained, and knows sit. She's very smart, and could probably go far
with obedience training.
Princess has completed her first basic training course at the Lee Mannix Training Center. She has done very well and has incporated well with the other dog in the household as a result of this training. She comes with two free private lesson from Lee Mannix Training center www.lmccb.com as well as the stuffed football!

| Help Sponsor this Journey as it Begins | | Missy is a lovely dog who has come a long way! She has been living outside and neglected. She is the mother to Lucky Mutts: Dylan and Dax, who we were able to rescue last fall. We are not sure when sweet Missy will be ready for adoption. She was hit by a car approximatley 3 years ago.
She only received her first medical treatment last week to help her endure the old wounds. An FHO was completed to clean out dime-sized chips of bones floating in her hip joint. She has been amazingly adaptable to her physical condition as so many dogs are.
We are currently trying prescription medication to see if that will help her incontinence issue. And after she fully recovers from the FHO, we will see if we can help her knee. She will need pain medication for the rest of her life to lessen the pain of the resulting arthritis. Through it all, she is a champion. She has never uttered a complaint. | Uniquely Beautiful Eyes | | Barley is just a little clown. His unique eye gives him a very mischevious and playful look. He has no eye problems as a result of the difference, though.
Barley does summersaults and jumps around when he gets excited while playing. He is a hoot to watch.
Barley is leash-trained to walk beside a person. He is also crate-trained - when left alone in the crate, he will yelp to let you know he has to go outside, but he gets quiet very quick and waits it out. He follows his foster mom everywhere in the house and as soon as she sits down, he jumps up in her lap and wants to stay there as much as possible. He's a real snuggler and he's so soft and sweet. He also lives with two big dogs and a little boy (2 legged :o) and loves all of them!!! He loves running with the big dawgs and plays very well with the little boy.

| Tiny Mutt Pup | | Lexi is now about 10 weeks old and is looking for her forever home. She is bigger now than in the pictures. She is a very quick learner and her social and obedience training is coming along great.
Someone found this sweet little puppy (at 3+ weeks old) in some weeds in their apartment complex and turned her over to Town Lake Animal Center. As TLAC does not have the resources to hand feed this little girl, they called Lucky Mutts. One of our awesome fosters agreed to help this little girl. | Let's Play!! | | Billy Bob is smart and loves to learn new things. He also would be a great agility dog or a dog for an active family. Billy Bob enjoys playing with other dogs, but needs to be supervised during play as he tends to play a bit exuberantly. He does need a family that is in charge and will continue to allow him to be his wonderful self with boundaries. He is a great ball chaser. He will retrieve all day long if you let him, but he can also retrieve just for 10 minutes per day and that is good. Whatever you want to do he will happily do.
Billy Bob was rescued from euthanasia at Town Lake and we are just happy to be able to give this guy some more time to find his perfect family. His friendly attitude, drive to play with toys, and cute little face was what captured our hearts. Come and meet him at our Meet and Greets!

| Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair… ~Susan Polis Shutz | | Daisy is a doll to watch. She was a little shy at first but quickly blossomed into a fun loving girl. She'll roll on her back to show her irresistible spotted belly but she's just as happy entertaining herself. Nothing tickles her more than a squeaky tennis ball. She'll dip her head then throw it back sending the ball flying & even catches her own throw! As much as she loves it she is no selfish gal. She'll be more than happy to share it with you. She'll invite her pooch pal by squeaking it in his ear or nudging him with the ball. If that's not tempting she'll lay down & roll it around with her nose. The fun doesn't stop there because toys bring out the show off in her. She is quite proud to prance the ball around in her high stepping boxer style. She's got lots of stamina but respects when it's time to settle down at your feet . | Little Cutie with a Big Heart | | Each time we saw Ginger and her siblings at the city shelter, they were all piled on top of each other, trying to sleep . . . no interest at all in the people walking by.
HOWEVER - When we pulled Ginger, it only took her a few days to come out of her shell. Ginger is working on potty training, and loves to play and snuggle. She loves her toys and hanging out with her foster mom's other two dogs. Ginger knows how to sit for a treat and walk on a loose leash - staying right by her foster mom's side. She will be spayed soon, is up to date on vaccinations, and is very healthy. | Handosme fluffy boy | | We have finally been able to put Dax in a wonderful foster home thanks to a recent adoption of another Lucky Mutt. His new name is Dax...much more masculine for this handsome dog and more fitting. He wasn't sure what to do inside the house, but he wuickly realized it was nice to be fre of fleas and ants and have consistent supply of water and food. Underneath the fluff, we found that we could see every vertebrate in his spine and every bone of his hips. He was severely undernourished.
UPDATE: February 16, 2008: Dax is doing wonderful! He has simlpy blossomed. He loves kids. He is such a beautiful dog. He is ready for his adoptive home. His fosters love him and would love to keep him, but they are in rescue for the long haul and have just done a great job in rehabilitating Dax. We need his fosters for another dog in despearate need for their magical touch--they can't foster another one until Dax is adopted.
